Welcome to ACE - Automotive Center of Expertise
ACE is a partnership between the automotive institutes of
HAN University of Applied Sciences and
Fontys University of Applied Sciences. The primary goal of ACE is to improve the number of incoming automotive students to meet the rising demand from the sector.
As the name ‘ACE’ implies, the institute aims to be the centre where all fields of expertise relating to the automotive sector come together. By offering a scholarship scheme with unique projects and high-level research, the centre will prepare ACE students for a varied profession in the automotive industry. The groundbreaking research into areas such as electrical mobility is made possible in part by access to the high-tech testing facilities of prominent organisations TNO, VDL Bus & Coach and Drive Train Innovations. Other partners of ACE are ready to start participating in joint education and research projects.
Objectives
ACE has three clear objectives:
- To improve the intake of enthusiastic students in order to meet the rapidly rising demand for first-rate automotive engineers;
- To offer a unique scholarship scheme for outstanding students. Those students will follow the course during their third and fourth years of study;
- To conduct and expand applied high-tech research for and with the business sector.
Scholarship scheme
ACE works together with prominent automotive organisations to offer a unique scholarship scheme for its students. The course matches the best automotive students with leading businesses in the automotive sector. The purpose of this interaction is to meet the increasing demand in the profession for highly educated automotive specialists. The government recently underlined the importance of ACE by investing five million euros: a tremendous boost for the ACE course.
Research
Vehicles are becoming smarter all the time. That is why ACE talks about High Tech Mobility. New developments in the field of mobility are continually evolving at a rapid pace, creating a demand for highly educated automotive specialists. In partnership with the business sector, ACE students will conduct research, focusing on five themes:
- Cooperative mobility
- Electric vehicles
- Vehicle guidance
- Vehicle efficiency
- Platform electrification
