ACE Mobility has initiated a project called IMIAT, which has the ambition to strive for the implementation of autonomous road freight transport on public roads by the year of 2030. This means that there will not be a truck driver needed anymore. In this assignment you will investigate what the impact of removing the truck driver will be on the supply chain of a logistics company. You will  investigate the impact of the removal of the truck driver and you will design a solution which the logistic companies can use in order to benefit from autonomous driving

Description company:

The Automotive Center of Expertise is a partnership between the Universities of Applied Sciences Automotive (HAN and Fontys) and the automotive industry. Partner companies of ACE are selected companies that have a close bond with education. Description department: Research & Development. ACE Mobility is the initiatior of a number of research projects which are focused on smart mobility, future mobility and energy transition. The R&D department has initiated the IMIAT program which is focusing on the implementation of autonomous trucks on the Dutch roads by the year of 2030.

What are you going to do:

• Investigate the current activities and task of a truck driver.
• Investigate the current efficiency and effictiviness losses in the supply chain of freight roadtranspot.
• Inventorize the possible use-cases of autonomous driving on a highway in 2030
• Investigate the impact of the removal of the truck driver regarding legislation,  transportplanning, docking, administration et cetera.
• Design a solution for the removal of a truck driver to enable logistic companies to improve their efficiency and effectiveness of their logistics. This solution can be focused on designin a new software system (Engineering or ICT) or a new design of the new logistics process (Industrial Engineering).
• You will speak with the IMIAT consortium partners (logistic companies, ICT and software companies, legislators et cetera).
• You will become a member of the task group  Processes and Organisations of the IMIAT program.
• Fulltime: 40 hours per week

What do you bring:

• Necessary competences, qualities and skills:

1. You have a background in Automotive engineering or in Industrial engineering.
2. You can understand the basics of automated driving systems and you have expertise in improving logistic supply chains.
3. You like to be involved within a small team and you like to represent yourself as a member of ACE Mobility
4. You can work indepently and you are able to make your own decisions.
5. You are able to analyse a complex situation in order to choose the right information needed for designing your solution.
