Hyster-Yale Group designs, manufactures and sells Materials Handling products, (fork) lift trucks in a full range product line. In Nijmegen the company engineers and manufactures Big Trucks and Container Handlers. The EMEA Aftermarket and Spare Parts Depot organizations are also located at the Nijmegen site.  Hyster-Yale Group is a worldwide organization with sales offices, production plants and development centers all over the globe.

Hyster –Yale - Big Truck development center and Nijmegen Manufacturing

Assignment/ work/ activities:
Hyster-Yale develops and builds fuel cell powered forklift truck and container handlers in collaboration with partner Nuvera. These fuel cells convert hydrogen and air (oxygen) into electricity, heat and water.

During manufacturing and before truck shipment, sub-systems and complete truck will be tested for which H2 is required.

During assembly H2 piping needs to be flushed with Nitrogen

For all necessary flusing and filling processes,  HYG Mnf would need on-site H2 and N2 supply. This study should create business scenarios for transistion from mobile to shared to dedicated filling station explaining necessary legal and safety framework. Business case should detail out financial, facility and planning impacts at high level.

This assignment needs to be executed in close cooperation between engineering and manufacturing department together with support from HYG facilltiy manager.

Internship allowance: € 350,= euro gross/month

  • HBO
  • Good understanding of Fuel cell integration and H2 storage
  • Taking ownership of the project (self supportive)
  • Good communication and networking skills
