Successful Kick-off for Regular and Private Vocational Battery Technology Education

On Tuesday, May 14, the kick-off event for intervention 6 of the regular and private vocational battery technology education program of the Human Capital Agenda of the Battery Competence Cluster NL (BCC-NL) took place at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. This kick-off was jointly organized with the interdepartmental battery strategy of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W) and RWE's OranjeWind Knowledge.

During the meeting, the importance of education and training in the growing battery sector was emphasized, with a focus on initial education programs, elective modules, and lifelong learning (LLO) initiatives from vocational institutions and practical trainers.

Important step

The kick-off brought together various current developments, such as the LLO catalyst initiatives, the national elective module for basic battery technology, the need for a learning community, and training for battery classification and diagnostics. The enthusiastic responses from the participants confirmed the collective effort to position the Netherlands as a key player in battery technology. Several parallel tracks were identified, from which working groups will be formed to jointly address these in the coming years. This lays a solid foundation for further collaboration and linkage with the business sector. With this start, an important step has been taken towards a significant role for the Netherlands in the battery sector.

The Battery Book

During this meeting, tech writer Jeroen Horlings launched his latest book: the Battery Book. This book, funded by the Ministry of I&W, is intended to stimulate the development of the battery sector and technical vocational education in it. The book is also part of the broader strategy to make the battery sector in the Netherlands and Europe competitive in the geopolitical struggle for this market.

The book covers the history and future of battery technology, including the technical aspects of different types of chemistry and technical design and applications. The ePub book is available for free download at: batterijboek.nl.
