Since 1996, DAF is part of PACCAR, a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF trucks. PACCAR also provides financial services and information technology and distributes truck parts to its principal business.

Omschrijving afdeling / Description department:

The Cabin Development department consists of three groups: Body, Interior, Exterior. Together they are responsible for the realization of projects for all cab variants (XG+,XG, XF and XD) in all their applications. This department is part of Product Development within DAF Trucks.

Wat ga je doen: / What are you going to do:

During this assignment you will:

  • Develop a library of tested connections per use case.
  • Interview the engineers in the cab department on what connections they currently use.
  • Compile the lessons learned from previous projects.
  • Develop and test new and or old connection concepts.
  • For example a click connection of a door panel to the Body In White (rib height min. max, hole diameter min max, etc.)
  • Start up a system to categorize the fixations per use case. The engineer must be able to use a “pre-selector” with several input variables.

Furthermore, you will get the freedom to decide your own direction in case of better ideas, and/or applications/directions.

Wat neem je mee: / What do you bring:

For this case we are looking for student(s) who have:

  • An education in automotive engineering or mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of plastics (pre)
  • Willingness to learn, but needs to be a self-starter and have initiative
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX (plus)
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good communcation skills in English
  • Dutch and/or German is a plus but not a necessity.

And most importunately a willingness to take DAF into the 21st century.

Time of the internship: minimal 6 months.

  • A travel allowance, if you don’t have a student travel product (provided by the Dutch government)
  • A housing allowance, if you temporarily rent a room near DAF.
  • Each intern will have the opportunity to participate at the Student Event. During this event you will meet other interns and find out more about DAF/PACCAR!
